Saturday 18 May marks ORLA.fm's 7th birthday and also the 7th anniversary of the English language social and media issues show London Bridge, hosted by George Matlock since the start in 2006. The first edition of London Bridge was on 19 May 2006 from our Ealing studios. The station launched on 18 May 2006 - commemorating the birthdate of Poland's most-famous recent son, Karol Wojtyla who went on to become the most popular Roman Catholic Pope ever, Pope John Paul II.
In a departure from our usual diet of newspaper cuttings and comment, London Bridge this weekend will feature a look back at 7 years of Radio ORLA, latterly ORLA.fm, and guest Jan Niechwiadowicz will help sift out the more unusual stories about ORLA.fm as reported by the media around the world as well as some of our own press releases and achievements. The hour-long special will also feature birthday wishes from our new media partner, the quality Polish newspaper Nowy Czas - itself celebrating 7 years' publishing in London in October. Nowy Czas editor Grzegorz Malkiewicz, himself a veteran of the legendary Radio Free Europe, will be joining in the party.
The show airs on Saturday at 1200 and repeated on Sunday at 1200.
