A heat wave is coming to Poland. Tropical nights will come with it

In the next week, thermometers may indicate temperatures higher than 30℃. Along with the unbearable heat wave will come sleepless nights.

From Tuesday to Wednesday (June 11-12), the temperature across Poland will cool down slightly. The warmest will be in the Masovian and Podlaskie voivodeships – thermometers here will show around 21℃. Residents of the province will experience similar temperatures. Lublin and Podkarpackie, as well as Warmian-Masurian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Greater Poland and Lower Silesian. It will be around 20℃ there.

However, the situation is developing. In just a few days, temperatures will rise – significantly.

When will the heat occur? We indicate the day

The lowest temperature will occur on Wednesday on the border of the Pomeranian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships – thermometers there will indicate approximately 16℃. According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute, cloudiness throughout the country on June 12 will be moderate or heavy. There will also be light rain in the northern part of Poland – the same applies to the central part of the country and the south. Storms that may occur here and there may be accompanied by winds with gusts of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

On Thursday it will be the warmest in the province. Warmia-Masuria and Lower Silesia – 20℃. It will be slightly “cooler” in the province. Lubelskie and Świętokrzyskie, where thermometers will show -14℃. The lowest temperature values will occur around the Carpathians – 12℃. The sky will be completely cloudy in Masovia, the Lublin region and Podlasie. Precipitation will be possible. In other parts of Poland, moderate to heavy cloudiness will be visible – and in this case, the phenomenon may be accompanied by rain. During storms, in some regions of Poland, winds can reach speeds of up to 70 km per hour.

To sum up, the weather will not get close to 30℃ in the coming days. However, it may be significantly exceeded next week. According to TVN Meteo, on June 18, thermometers in Warsaw will indicate approximately 28℃ or more. A day later – 29℃. The same situation will also occur in Krakow. In Białystok it will be 28℃ on Tuesday and 27℃ on Wednesday. On June 18 and 19, it will be 28℃ in Lublin. In Olsztyn – on June 18 – it will be 27℃, and a day later – 28℃. On Tuesday in Poznań, the temperature will be around 27℃, and on Wednesday – 26℃. In Rzeszów it will be 28℃ and 29℃ respectively. On June 18 and 19, the inhabitants of Wrocław will see 28℃ or more degrees Celsius on thermometers.

Thermometers on this day may indicate even 34℃

According to the Onet portal, after the weekend the temperature will increase almost to 25-29℃. However, on June 18 and 19 we will see temperatures of up to 32℃, but this does not apply to the west and the center – there the temperature may exceed the indicated ceiling – and significantly – it will probably indicate from 33℃ to 34℃. Quite surprisingly, it will be very warm even at night – in several places on the map of Poland, thermometers will indicate approximately 20℃. According to the source, such a temperature fits the definition of the so-called tropical nights, i.e. situations when thermometers show 20℃ or more. This phenomenon is very unfavorable for health and may worsen or cause insomnia. Even if someone manages to fall asleep in such conditions, the rest is not satisfactory because the sleep can be very light.

It is worth preparing for Tuesday and Wednesday's heat. On these days, you should drink a lot of mineral water, avoid full sun (between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.) or wear a baseball cap or hat to go out in the sun, and, if possible, take short breaks to rest in the shade. It is also not worth overexerting the body – this applies especially to older people, who are much less resistant to high temperatures.
