Aerostats will increase Poland's security.  They can detect missiles

Reconnaissance aerostats will appear along Poland's eastern border. They have the ability to detect, among others: missiles, aircraft, drones and surface units.

Reconnaissance aerostats are an element of the radar reconnaissance system. They are intended to complement the currently operating Air Defense System and Coast Observation System. They have the ability to detect a wide range of objects such as missiles, aircraft, drones and surface vessels. Their operating range is over 300 km.

– Today we start the day by signing an important contract. Contracts for aerostats for the Polish Army. This is an important element of army equipment that increases our capabilities and Poland's security, said the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, on Wednesday morning.

The contract concerns the delivery of four such aircraft, which will be stationed at posts along the eastern and north-eastern borders of Poland. The value of the contract is approximately USD 960 million, and the equipment is to be delivered to Poland in 2027.

According to the Minister of National Defense, the Barbara aerostats along with all logistics and other elements are being purchased today. – This agreement defines our security. Poland will be the second country in the world to use this type of system, he said.

– Radar systems operate at lower altitudes. The war in Ukraine showed how important these systems are. Security connects us. It's good that we have proven allies. I would like to thank everyone involved in the process of equipping the army with modern equipment, said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The United States ambassador to Poland assured that military cooperation between America and Poland has never been stronger. – Your leadership in this area is extremely important. Today, Americans stand by your side. We are once again raising the bar when delivering safety. There is nothing that is more important for the government to ensure its national security, said Mark Brzezinski.
