Aryna Sabalenka's drama in Paris. What scenes at Roland Garros!

Aryna Sabalenka will not play in the semi-finals of Roland Garros 2024. The Belarusian lost in three sets to Russian Mirra Andreeva. It was a match full of drama.

The last quarterfinal match in the singles tournament took place right after the big sensation of Jasmine Paolini's victory over Jelena Rybakina. The Italian set an example, perhaps on the court. Philippe Chatrier make Andreyev's Mirra. However, the Russian's problem was the level of difficulty on the other side of the net, i.e. the match with Aryna Sabalenka.

Roland Garros: Aryna Sabalenka – Mirra Andreeva, drama of a Belarusian woman

However, it turned out that the WTA ranking runner-up had to deal not only with a very talented opponent who was only 17 years old, but also with serious health problems. In fact, from the first balls it was obvious that the winner of this year's Australian Open was feeling bad. The Belarusian looked resentfully at the people from her training staff. The tennis player time and time again mixed great moves with very simple, even banal mistakes, considering her sporting class.

Andreeva consistently tried to implement her plan. She didn't mind Sabalenka's long stretches of seconds between points. The Belarusian woman grimaced and even writhed in pain. Or more precisely, indisposition, most likely related to indigestion, as shown by the scene where the player was given… a can of Coke in the second game. And this could suggest such ailments.

The Russian, who was not seeded in the tournament, lost the first set only after a tie-break, after 65 minutes of play. Second set? This time, Andreeva closed the game in her favor. After the seventh game, Sabalenka asked to see medical services on the court and took additional medications. However, this apparently did not help much, because she lost 4:6, and both players added another 46 minutes to the match clock.

The WTA ranking runner-up lost, a great triumph for the seventeen-year-old!

Before the last set, one could get the impression that the Belarusian would simply fall over after a few more balls. However, this had no impact on the result. What's more, although the player from Minsk had to defend at 1:2 and 0:30 on her serve, a moment later it was 3:2 with a break for Sabalenka.

However, Andreeva responded with a return break for 3:3. The Russian was two balls away from winning at 5:4 for Andreeva and 30:30 for Sabalenka's serve. What's more, a moment later there was even a match ball for the seventeen-year-old. The Belarusian managed to save herself by playing more and more offensively, at maximum risk.

Finally, the Russian managed to close the match in her favor, showing off a beautiful lob in the last play. Andreeva thus won 6:4 and joined Paolini in the semi-final pair. Sensational, one must admit it openly.
