Bartosz Kurek’s strong post online just before the European Championship match. We’re talking about manipulation
An unusual situation occurred just before the match number two of the Polish national volleyball team at the European Championships. Bartosz Kurek took to social media to refer to the publication of an interview in which, according to the volleyball player, the content was manipulated.
There is no doubt that Bartosz Kurek is a legendary volleyball player, looking back at the last several dozen years in the history of the Polish national team. The captain of the White and Reds won the national colors, among others. for the gold of the World Championships (2018), the European Championships (2009), the World League (2012) and most recently the Nations League (2023).

The Poles started the European Championship 2023 with a certain victory over the Czech Republic in three sets. Kurek was a volleyball player who entered the court from the square for the substitutes. However, coach Nikola Grbic skillfully introduces the team leader to the game, after health problems that “Kuraś” had, among others. during the VNL final tournament.
The captain of the White and Reds gave an interview for WP/SportoweFakty. There was a question about addiction to sports results, how destructive it can be for an athlete. This was Kurek’s response:
“I know that if I had let go then, I would have felt guilty. Only after some time did I understand that such a destructive approach had pushed me to the limit of my physical and mental abilities. (…) Certainly (answer to the question about addiction per eMPe). You also have to be careful with sports. You can have a glass of wine or vodka at your friend’s wedding, or go to the casino for a while and lose a symbolic amount. It’s not that bad. But when you fall into the rhythm of interdependence and to feel good you have to drink, play or win a match, then you have a big problem,” admitted the captain of the national team in an interview.
The title and message of the whole thing, which was published on WP/SportoweFakty, soon later also appeared on… the stories of the volleyball player himself. With an appropriate explanation.
“I would like to congratulate @sportowefakty, in my opinion they shortened the interesting interview to a quote suggesting my problems with any stimulants. Why don’t athletes like giving interviews where they say more than blah blah blah?!?!?!” – wrote Kurek on social media, posting a screenshot showing the harmful title on the WP/SportoweFakty website.
The captain of the national team also posted an addition to his first message.
“One last note to make everything clear. As always, the interview is authorized even twice. Each time the version sent did not include a title. Overt manipulation of content and message. Okay, I’m off to the match – keep your fingers crossed for the Polish national team today. – commented “Kuraś”.
Ultimately, the title of the interview was changed, abandoning the previous “addiction” thread. It’s hard not to suspect that the volleyball player’s post on social media had a decisive influence on the change.
Poland – Netherlands, when and where to watch the volleyball match?
After an impressive victory over the Czech Republic, the Poles will play their second match on Friday evening. This time, the White and Reds’ rivals will be the Dutch. The national team, which is in eleventh place in the FIVB ranking, has a big star in its ranks. It is the attacker Nimi Abdel-Aziz. Additionally, it is impossible not to mention a high-class professional, coach Roberto Piazza.
