CPK to be liquidated? Horała: It won’t be easy

There was no feta cheese. The shovel for the construction of the CPK has been broken, and the first works are underway

– In this situation, when it is not certain whether this project will be continued, our duty is to anchor it as strongly as possible in order to make it as difficult as possible for anyone who wants to harm CPK – said Marcin Horała on TVP Info , government representative for CPK.

Construction and preparatory work for construction works within the Central Communication Port have already started. Minority investors were also acquired, which was criticized by the current opposition, because everything indicates that Donald Tusk’s team, which is opposed to the mega airport project, will take power. – In this situation, when it is not certain whether this project will be continued, our duty is to anchor it as strongly as possible in order to make it as difficult as possible for anyone who wants to harm CPK – the government representative said on TVP Info for CPK Marcin Horała.

CPK to close?

Many politicians from the current opposition believe that the CPK project is too large, expensive and unnecessary, and therefore it should be abandoned.

“It won’t be that easy,” Horała said. He added that such projects must last for more than one term and are designed that way. The CPK is included in the trans-European communication network and is an international obligation, several projects have already received EU funding, including under the KPO.

– I hope that some common sense and care for Poland’s interests will prevail – said Horała.

Opposition about CPK

Probably all opposition politicians managed to criticize the CPK. In the future, they will have to decide whether – and to what extent – to continue one of the most important projects of the outgoing government. It should be remembered that CPK is not only the mega airport in Baranów, but also the so-called the railway component, which assumes the construction of high-speed railways connecting the largest provincial cities, but also the expansion of regional connections.

It is not certain that the investment, for which several billion zlotys have already been spent (purchase of real estate, projects, remuneration of the CPK company that coordinates the work), will be thrown away. It is highly probable that railway projects will be implemented, but the construction of an airport is questionable. However, the decisions will depend on the results of the audit commissioned by the new government.

– However, independent analysts must assess whether there are too many railway tasks and whether the construction of regional connections should take place within this structure. The opposition calls for the development of rail transport between counties, so this goal is part of its election program, but it must be assessed whether tasks completely unrelated to the airport and transporting passengers to it should be carried out by the CPK special purpose vehicle – he said in an interview with Wprost Dominik Sipiński, transport and infrastructure analyst at the Polityka Insight and ch-aviation analytical center.
