CV under the microscope of the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. InterviewMe now needs to explain itself

CV under the microscope of the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. InterviewMe now needs to explain itself

Customers were not aware that a one-time CV order in a special online creator involves high fees charged every three months. The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection looked at the case and came to the conclusion that the information about the fees was hidden. The owner of the InterviewMe website now has to explain this.

InterviewMe is a popular website for creating CVs. Users can select a template, enter the necessary information, and the system arranges all the data in columns. The website has been operating for several years, but only now it has come to light that some customers feel cheated.

Recurring resume fees. The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has reservations

Creating a CV itself is free, but downloading it incurs a fee. Many customers were not aware that even a single use of the wizard could result in a multi-month subscription. The case was reviewed by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, which received many complaints.

The Office's analysis shows that people using interviewme.pl do not know that the portal's free options are limited. When the documents are ready, it turns out that you have to pay for their use – downloading and printing. There are two options: 14 days for almost PLN 6 or a quarter for PLN 79.90. In less visible, smaller and lighter print on a gray background it says that the subscription will be automatically renewed. In the case of shorter access, the cost is PLN 59.90 every 28 days or PLN 79.90 quarterly.

InterviewMe. Customers complained to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection

According to the complaints, the way this information is presented is not clear to consumers. Many people were surprised that they had to pay almost PLN 6 for 14-day access, and then money was regularly withdrawn from their account, and in a much higher amount. The font size and color used when informing about the subscription fee does not attract the recipient's attention. The CV creation service itself also does not suggest that the fee will be cyclical. “I made a one-time purchase. Because I wanted that option and you had it on the website. And I certainly did not agree to the automatic extension of the subscription,” wrote one of the consumers, and more similar voices were reported to the Office.

The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection brought charges against BOLD LLC, the operator of the interviewme.pl website. If the allegations are confirmed, the company may face a fine of up to 10%. turnover. We asked the press office of BOLD LLC for its position on this matter.
