Daniel Obajtek achieved success in the elections to the European Parliament. The former head of Orlen ran from district number 9, covering the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The former head of Orlen was supposed to be the electoral locomotive of Law and Justice in the region.

Daniel Obajtek became an MEP

According to the National Electoral Commission’s data, he obtained 171,689 votes and received the mandate. From the moment the election results were announced, Daniel Obajtek has been protected by MEP immunity.

On Thursday, June 13, the National Electoral Commission handed out election certificates to the new MEPs. A day later, Daniel Obajtek was already in Brussels. The newly minted MEP showed off his photos online and shared his impressions of his first moments in his new role.

“First visit to the European Parliament in a new role. Organizational matters for now, but substantive work for Poland will come soon. Best regards,” he wrote on social media.

Daniel Obajtek may have his first problems in the European Parliament

In an interview with TVN24, Borys Budka declared his readiness to present motions to the European Parliament to waive the immunity of Daniel Obajtka. – I hope that such an episode will be a quick one when I report on the request to waive the immunity of Daniel Obajtek. Of course, if necessary, I will be happy to present what is collected about him here in Poland. But this is probably a matter of a few more months and the work of the prosecutor’s office, said the Civic Coalition politician.

– For me, the most important thing is that the prosecutor’s office translates into the trial material what I saw in the documents collected by the Polish services. In my opinion, Mr Obajtek should stand trial and answer for what happened during his rule in Orlen, the politician noted.
