This may be one of the last tournaments of the Polish national team with the participation of Robert Lewandowski. The captain of the national team gave an interview for Łączy nas kuli.
The ŁNP camera visited the striker of the Polish national team and FC Barcelona in Spain. Robert Lewandowski talked about his feelings before the upcoming European Championships. There were also references to the passing time, mainly in the context of a different approach to an important international tournament.
Robert Lewandowski on the chances of the Polish national team at the European Championships
The captain of the White and Reds is optimistic about competing at the European Championship 2024. RL9 strongly believes in the team led by coach Michał Probierz.
– Even though we are playing in the “group of death” at the European Championships, we are aware that we will play against the Netherlands, France and Austria. For example, Austria, which played a great qualifier and was in great shape. But somewhere, looking through the prism of this European Championship, I believe that we will play such football that the fans will be proud of us – admitted Lewandowski.
Where does this optimism come from? As Lewandowski admits, it is also the result of maturing as a player and a person, greater experience in the perspective of passing time.
– I'm very optimistic about it now. Maybe it's also due to the fact that I'm at an age where I appreciate things that I didn't pay attention to before. Maybe I didn't have time, I was thinking about what would happen next. And now I appreciate every thing, I want to enjoy it, and not look negatively at something that may seem heavy. I even prefer to look at such a thing positively, maybe it is more reliable. And with a smile on your face later, you can achieve success more easily – said RL9.
LaLiga's best striker of the 2022/23 season is clearly waiting for the start of Euro 2024.
– I want to experience it, I can't wait. Enjoy the joy and take it with all your strength – Lewandowski added at the end.
The Polish national team at Euro 2024. Who will they play against in Germany?
The Poles will play in Germany against the Netherlands, France and Austria. What does the exact schedule look like? The White and Reds will start with a match against the Netherlands on June 16 in Hamburg (3:00 p.m.). Then Poland – Austria in Berlin (21/06, 18:00) and at the end of the group games the most difficult challenge, France – Poland. The match against the world runners-up is scheduled for June 25 in Dortmund, from 6:00 p.m.
Interestingly, only in 2016 did the Polish national team manage to achieve anything at a European Championship event. The team led by coach Adam Nawałka then reached the quarterfinals in France. In 2008, 2012 and 2021, Poles took… the last, fourth places in the groups.
What will it be like in Germany? Coach Probierz's team will certainly face a difficult challenge.
