KGHM, one of the largest Polish state-owned companies, calls for caution when using social media and warns against fake profiles using its image. Recently, there have been a lot of posts on the Internet encouraging people to invest in precious metals. Keep in mind that this is another wave of scams on social media.

As we read on the company's Facebook profile, cybercriminals use its image to commit theft on social media. Fraudsters using fake profiles publish specially prepared posts that redirect to a website that was created to extort sensitive personal data from visitors. This data is then used to access users' online banking and drain their bank accounts.

KGHM appeals to report fraudsters

In its communication, KGHM appealed to its followers to report any suspicious online activity related to its image. All information, along with screenshots, can be sent to the email address scam(at)kghm.com. KGHM intends to inform the relevant law enforcement authorities about such cases.

It turns out that the scale of fraud taking advantage of KGHM's image and reputation online is so large that the company even launched a special website where it explains how to stay safe and what to do in the event of encountering manifestations of cybercrime online. .

KGHM clearly announced that it does not currently run any investment program in gold, silver or copper that would be addressed to retail clients and individual investors.
