Historic advancement of Polish volleyball players. They have never been so high in the ranking!

The first triumph in the Nations League meant that Polish volleyball players have already written another beautiful story. This is about the FIVB ranking.

On Tuesday, Stefano Lavarini's players started their appearances in the Nations League. This is the competition in which last season the Polish team won the bronze medal, taking the podium for the first time in history. Therefore, expectations before this year's edition are high. First, the Poles played against the Italians and won the match without losing a set.

Historic advancement in the FIVB rankings

It so happened that the triumph over Italy contributed to the Polish national team jumping to fifth place in the FIVB world ranking. Even before the start of the Nations League, our team was in seventh place. For defeating the Italians, the white and red team received 10.63 points. This allowed them to overtake not only the Chinese women, but also their Tuesday rivals. It can be said that we have exchanged positions in the ranking with Italy, which dropped to seventh position. China, however, is still in sixth place.

Currently, the Polish national team has 338.52 points. It is ahead only of: Turkey (397.46 points), the USA (358.62), Brazil (352.55) and Serbia (350.86). However, we are less than 9 points ahead of China. As you can clearly see, the team led by Lavarini is now the third European force in the world rankings.

Just a few years ago, such a scenario would have been unthinkable, which shows how much progress the team has made under the leadership of the Italian coach. In the 21st century, Polish women have never been so high in the ranking.

The Polish women will play three more matches in Turkey

After Tuesday's triumph against the Italian national team, the Polish women must wait until Friday for the next Nations League match. Then at 4:00 p.m. they will face France. This will not be the end of the emotions during the tournament in Turkey, because on Saturday Magdalena Stysiak and company will face the Dutch, and on Sunday they will play against Japan.
