Holiday prices are rising. This is the last moment to book your trip

Holiday prices are rising. This is the last moment to book your trip

If you dream of going on winter break, do not delay in booking travel and accommodation. Their prices will now increase significantly. You have the last chance to buy a trip for an attractive price.

There are still a few weeks left until the winter holidays, but it’s not worth waiting to book. It will get more and more expensive every week. As data from previous seasons show, in the most popular mountain resorts, as the availability of places decreases, prices go up significantly in November and December. This is the result of the analysis of the largest Polish tourist website, Nocowanie.pl.

Great interest in holiday trips

The winter holidays are getting closer. They will start in mid-January and last until February 25. Different provinces will rest at different times. Students from the Lower Silesian, Masovian, Opole and West Pomeranian voivodeships will be the first to set off for their winter holidays. A week later, the holidays will begin for the following voivodeships: Podlaskie and Warmian-Masurian, and will last until February 4. From January 29 to February 11, children and young people from the Lublin, Łódź, Podkarpackie, Pomeranian and Silesian voivodeships will have a rest. The last round – from February 12 – will cover the following voivodeships: Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Lesser Poland, Lubusz, Świętokrzyskie and Greater Poland.

Tourists are already booking winter trips, and, as every year, Zakopane enjoys the greatest interest.

– We see a growing interest in holiday reservations, especially in mountain facilities, in popular towns with the best infrastructure for winter sports – says Tomasz Zaniewski, vice-president of Nocowanie.pl. – Traditionally, Zakopane is the leader, where the average price per person per night is currently PLN 89 – he adds.

It is more expensive in the also popular Wisła, where the average price per person per night reaches PLN 109, or in Szczyrk (PLN 151). Guests with more affluent budgets, choosing higher standard facilities, are attracted by Karpacz, where the average of reservations already made is PLN 210 per person per night.

– High on the list of the most frequently chosen towns at that time was Krynica-Zdrój, which is becoming increasingly popular among cross-country skiing enthusiasts and, in addition to many attractions, offers accommodation at favorable prices. The average price per person per day during the holidays is currently just over PLN 80, emphasizes Zaniewski.

Holiday trips are becoming more and more expensive

For now, these prices are not shocking, but this is going to change in the coming weeks or even days. This is the example of last year. In December 2022, the average price per person per night for holidays for the entire country increased by 12% compared to November 2022. For the most popular towns, this increase was much higher – e.g. in Krakow it was nearly 40%. This shows that those who leave the decision to the last minute must take into account not only that the availability of accommodation at favorable prices decreases over time, but also that the market responds to demand by increasing prices. Spontaneous booking decisions just before departure – which is one of the strongest trends of recent holidays – may turn out to be completely unprofitable in this case. The era of last minute trips is over.
