We know when Iga Świątek will return to the court

Despite starting from the first round, we won’t see Iga Świątek on the court anytime soon. The organizers of the CHhina Open decided that the Pole would play her first match only on Monday, October 2. The opponent of the second racket in the world will be Sara Sorribes, who is ranked 55th in the WTA ranking.

This will be their second match on the tour. For the first time, both players faced each other in July this year at the Wimbledon Grand Slam. Back then, our compatriot was better on the London courts, beating the Spanish 6-2, 6-0. If the Pole wins this match, she will face the winner of the match, Anastasija Potapova – Varvara Gracheva.

Interestingly, if the results are favorable, in the third round Iga Świątek will have a chance to face Magda Linette for the first time. However, the Poznań player must defeat Belarusian Victoria Azarenka to open the tournament, which will not be a difficult challenge.
