Important testimony at the investigative committee on envelope elections. Will they bring down the former deputy minister?

The former president of the Management Board of Poczta Polska said that he met with the former deputy head of MAP regarding envelope elections. – Today we learned that Mr. Artur Soboń lied before the high commission – said Magdalena Filiks.

On Tuesday, February 20, Przemysław Sypniewski was questioned before the investigative commission for envelope elections. The former president of the Management Board of Poczta Polska SA was asked whether “before or after his resignation he participated in meetings regarding the presidential elections on May 10.”

Sypniewski explained that before his resignation, he talked with the director of the department at the Ministry of State Assets, Marcin Izdebski. In turn, after submitting his resignation, Artur Soboń called the then president of the Management Board of Poczta Polska and asked for an interview, who “was ordered to check the possibility of preparing postal elections from Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin.”

When Magdalena Filiks asked questions, Sypniewski said that he did not know whether “a method was agreed in which Poczta Polska withdrew from the promise to conclude a contract with MAP and its costs were compensated in another way.” – I do not know what the state of negotiations between Poczta Polska and the Ministry of Assets was later – said the former president of the Management Board of Poczta Polska. He added that he imagines that there were talks and negotiations.

Magdalena Filiks about the former deputy minister of state assets

– We have already interviewed several witnesses and we would also like to imagine certain things, but it turns out that no one from the Ministry of State Assets took part in such talks, even Soboń, who was present at the commission, stated publicly that he never had anything to do with this process, he did not talk or consult, and you, in turn, testify today that Mr. Soboń contacted you, said Filiks.

– Here, at the committee, he said that he didn't know what was going on, that he had never talked and had nothing to do with the correspondence elections, because it was not part of his duties. I understand that today, thanks to your testimony, we found out that Mr. Soboń lied before the high committee, because he deliberately and precisely contacted you regarding the envelope elections, concluded the committee member.

Soboń appeared before the investigative committee on envelope elections on January 19. The former deputy head of MAP said that “at no time during the performance of his duties in the Ministry of Assets did he supervise Poczta Polska.” – I also did not supervise the budget, legal and corporate governance departments of Poczta Polska – he added.

Then Soboń replied to the commission's individual questions that “he provided the answer during his free speech.” The Deputy Minister of State Assets defended himself by saying that he had already informed the commission about his lack of involvement in the upcoming elections, and that he was currently using the powers of a witness.
