Kacper Urbański shines in the Polish national team. Who is the great Polish talent?

In the last match involving the Polish national team at Euro 2024, the Poles face the vice-world champions, the French. Who is the Polish talent Kacper Urbański?

The Polish national team failed to score a single point in the first two group matches at the European Championships in Germany. The White and Reds lost to the Netherlands (1:2) and Austria (1:3).

Kacper Urbański gets another chance from Michał Probierz

Kacper Urbański has made a total of 19 appearances in the 2023/24 season for Italian Bologna. The Polish youth international is not a key player for the Serie A sensation, but he is getting valuable minutes in the team that has been successfully led by coach Thiago Motta, the new coach of Juventus.

Looking at the player’s technical training, he is certainly a player who has the credentials to play big. Michał Probierz chose Urbański in two of Poland’s three matches at Euro 2024. The boy, who is only 19 years old, started the match against the Netherlands in an offensive duo with Adam Buksa, and against France he stood next to Robert Lewandowski.

It is worth adding that Urbański comes from Gdańsk. He is also a Lechia graduate, for whom he played four official matches in 2019-21, speaking about the senior team of the newly minted PKO BP Ekstraklasa newcomer. Since 2021, Urbański has already been a player of Bologna. That is, a team that will play in the most prestigious club competition in Europe, the Champions League, in the 2024/25 season.

Łukasz Skorupski is the number 21 player among Poles at Euro 2024

Coach Michał Probierz was looking for an optimal solution for the team’s formation during the tournament. This was forced by injuries to key players, such as captain Robert Lewandowski (even before the start of the 2024 European Championships) and Paweł Dawidowicz, who was supposed to be the leader of the team’s three-person defensive block.

Ultimately, the Polish coach chose the 21st player from the 26-player tournament squad for the match against France. Łukasz Skorupski was chosen as the goalkeeper replacement for Wojciech Szczęsny. Such a wide range of players used by the Polish coach only shows how difficult the tournament was, but also where the national team is at. At a time of reconstruction and striving to change its style and quality of play, not only at the stage of qualifying for the most important tournaments, but also ultimately, during them.
