Kylian Mbappe dealt a blow to the Polish national team. A costly mistake by the Pole
The score in the Poland-France match opened in the 56th minute. Kylian Mbappe scored a goal from a penalty kick. However, Jakub Kiwior had made a big mistake earlier.
The Polish national team failed to score a single point in the first two group matches at the European Championships in Germany. The White and Reds lost to the Netherlands (1:2) and Austria (1:3).

After the first 45 minutes, the Poles could be satisfied. In the match with the vice-world champions, the scoreboard showed a goalless draw. Much of the credit for this goes to Łukasz Skorupski, the Polish goalkeeper.
Unfortunately, the Polish national team goalkeeper was defeated in the 56th minute. Kylian Mbappe scored a penalty goal. The French captain was given such a chance after a foul committed by Jakub Kiwior in the Polish national team. The defender, who normally plays for Arsenal, fouled winger Ousmane Dembele.
Unfortunately, in the second half of the game the Poles performed worse than in the first part of the match.

Coach Michał Probierz was looking for an optimal solution for the team’s formation during the tournament. This was forced by injuries to key players, such as captain Robert Lewandowski (even before the start of the 2024 European Championships) and Paweł Dawidowicz, who was supposed to be the leader of the team’s three-person defensive block.
Ultimately, the Polish coach chose the 21st player from the 26-player tournament squad for the match against France. Łukasz Skorupski was chosen as the goalkeeper replacement for Wojciech Szczęsny. Such a wide range of players used by the Polish coach only shows how difficult the tournament was, but also where the national team is at. At a time of reconstruction and striving to change its style and quality of play, not only at the stage of qualifying for the most important tournaments, but also ultimately, during them.
