Łukasz Skorupski entered the goal and became a hero. "The result goes out into the world"

Łukasz Skorupski was chosen MVP of the Poland-France match. The Poles won a 1:1 draw with the vice-world champions, and the goalkeeper showed his great side.

The Poles approached the match with the French as a team with no chance of advancing to the knockout phase of Euro 2024. This was the result of defeats in matches with the Netherlands (1:2) and Austria (1:3). The White and Reds certainly wanted to show that they can play football, and they want to return to their home country with some points.

Łukasz Skorupski with the MVP award for the Poland-France match

The vice-champions of the world had seven accurate shots during the clash with the Poles. However, the French did not find a way to deal with Łukasz Skorupski, the goalkeeper replacing Wojciech Szczęsny in the match, trying to shoot “from the field”. It turned out that the only moment with the ball in the net of the Polish goal was a shot taken from a penalty kick.

Kylian Mbappe defeated Skorupski, but Robert Lewandowski later equalized, and the score ended 1:1 and a rather sensational result, especially considering the previous performances of both teams at Euro 2024.

Skorupski was chosen as the hero of the match. The goalkeeper, who usually plays in Serie A, defending the “cage” for Bologna, did not hide his joy after receiving this distinction in front of the TVP Sport cameras.

– I wanted to dedicate this award to the whole team. Who fought and showed that we can stand up to the vice-champions of the world. We drew at the Euro with a really good team. This award is also the result of my hard work. I have tried to always be ready throughout all these years. I try to do my job. Of course, Kylian Mbappe scored, but from a penalty. They had more opportunities, but the result goes out into the world. And this will be a result remembered. We have to work even harder. Young players are joining the team and it is clear that they can play. Now it is time for the Nations League – said Skorupski, clearly moved by his big moment at the European Championship.

Euro 2024: Austria, France and the Netherlands advance to the knockout stage

In the second match played during the Poland-France duel, the Austrians showed that it was no accident that they were even considered the “dark horse” of the entire tournament. Austria defeated the Netherlands 3:2 after a very exciting match. The Dutch were thus unable to secure a place in the top two of Group D.

However, having four points in their account, it will probably be enough to advance from third position, because such a loophole exists in the European Championships. The trio that advanced from the group in which the Poles played also shows how strong the stakes were.
