Michał Probierz can reach for his former player. An unexpected calling

Michał Probierz will reveal his appointments for the EURO 2024 play-offs next week. According to media reports, the coach may choose his former player from the times of Jagiellonia Białystok.

Michał Probierz has a difficult decision ahead of him. The reputation of the team, and most likely also his future as coach of the Polish national team, will depend on the fate of the next two matches (and, in a pessimistic scenario, even one). In the coming week, he will present his call-ups for the match against Estonia and the possible final of the play-offs.

Michał Probierz can reach for his former player

To advance to the tournament held in June in Germany, Poland must first defeat Estonia at home and then defeat the winner of the clash between Wales and Finland away. Theoretically, the White and Reds seem to be able to complete the task, but the EURO 2024 qualifying rounds showed that there are many shortcomings in their game.

It is not yet known who Michał Probierz will choose. Will he focus on proven players or will he reach for someone new? According to Tomasz Włodarczyk from the “Meczyki” website, Probierz may choose Taras Romanczuk. The player born in Ukraine has been living in Poland since 2013, and since 2014 he has been playing for Jagiellonia Białystok. In 2018, he received Polish citizenship (he renounced his Ukrainian citizenship) and made his debut in Adam Nawałka's squad. The match against South Korea is the only Polish appearance for the Jagiellonia midfielder so far.

– I hear that Taras Romanczuk may be in the squad. Could this possible vocation be surprising? Looking at what he looks like at Jagiellonia, it won't necessarily shock me, said Włodarczyk.

Taras Romanczuk competes with Jagiellonia Białystok in the PKO Ekstraklasa

Taras Romanczuk has been a key player of Jagiellonia Białystok for years. This season, the 32-year-old played in 22 Ekstraklasa matches and 4 Polish Cup matches, scoring a total of two goals.
