Nelli Rokita for "Wprost": I feel unsafe in Poland

– You can criticize PiS for many things, but during their rule it was relatively peaceful, there was prosperity that rather satisfied citizens. Now the fury has returned and the conflict has intensified. As a Catholic, I am very concerned that freedom of speech is being threatened and I feel unsafe in this country. I hope that extreme situations will not occur – says Nelli Rokita, former PiS MP, in an interview with “Wprost”. The former adviser to President Lech Kaczyński also reveals what she appreciates about Rafał Trzaskowski and assesses why there is no good presidential candidate in PiS.

Agnieszka Niełościowska, “Wprost”: Are you following the end of the campaign?

I watch a bit in my free time. It seems interesting to me.

Donald Tusk's rally caught your attention?

I noticed a disturbing narrative.

The more I learn about the Prime Minister's style of government, the less I understand it. I wonder whether what he is doing will not lead him to escape from Poland for the second time.

Why?

Talking about love in the language of hate is alien to me. You can criticize PiS for many things, but during their rule everything was relatively peaceful and there was prosperity that rather satisfied citizens. Now the fury has returned and the conflict has intensified. As a Catholic, I am very concerned that freedom of speech is being threatened and I feel unsafe in this country. I hope there will be no extreme situations.

Meaning?

Tusk would like to put everyone in prison, he compares PiS letters to wanted posters. This is incomprehensible in the 21st century. This style is foreign to me, I have a lot of positive energy, I don't think with hatred about my opponents. People like Tusk make me laugh.

What do you think about politicians like Daniel Obajtek, Jacek Kurski or Maciej Wąsik?

They haven't done anything wrong, and what Civic Coalition politicians say about them is pure fantasy.
