No more Google Podcasts. They will be replaced by another application

The Google Podcasts platform has already been disabled in the United States and will soon be disabled in Europe. Their function will be taken over by the YouTube Music application.

The Google Podcasts application, which had been successfully operating for almost six years, was disabled in the United States on April 2, which had been announced for several months.

Existing Google Podcasts users only have the option of transferring their subscriptions to the YouTube Music application or similar solutions from competing companies. Soon, on June 24, the same will also happen in all countries outside the US.

The end of Google Podcasts

In the US, the circumstances for disabling Google Podcasts are as follows: an in-app message appears stating that the service is no longer available, and Google asks the user to transfer their subscriptions to the YouTube Music app or export them to a third-party service.

Transferring your subscription to YouTube Music is quite simple, as everything can be done in the Google Podcasts app. Migrating to an external solution is a bit more difficult because it requires creating an OPML file and then uploading it to the service of your choice. Data can be transferred no later than July 31, because after that date they will be irretrievably lost.

User opinions are divided

The decision to shut down Google Podcasts was met with a mixed reception in the United States. Some people praise it because now all audio content is available in one application, while others do not like this integration at all, because the YouTube Music service is primarily music streaming, which means that podcasts are in the background and now they are harder to find.
