Polish city at the top of the ranking. It is the best for winter relaxation

Traveling in winter is a good idea for many reasons. First of all, on such dates we can count on lower prices and no crowds. Thanks to this, we will not have to wait in queues for many interesting attractions, and we will also be able to visit the places we are interested in in peace. Which places are best to visit in the colder season? Discover Cars, a car rental company, has prepared a ranking of ideal places for a winter getaway. The city in Poland received the highest distinction.

The best places for winter recreation

DiscoverCars.com has once again prepared an annual ranking of the best and affordable places for a winter trip in Europe. The study took into account several factors, including the average cost of a week’s hotel stay (data was collected assuming that the reader would be away for a week, and the dates were from November 22 to 28, 2023), the average price of car rental per week, flight cost, attractions, ticket prices to these attractions or the number of cheap restaurants in a given place. Each location was then awarded up to 50 points and classified accordingly.

Based on the collected data, the creators of the ranking concluded that the best place for a winter trip in Europe is Krakow. This is yet another ranking in which the capital of Małopolska became number one. At the same time, it outclassed other well-known and eagerly visited places by tourists.

Krakow is the best place for winter relaxation

For the third year in a row, Kraków took first place in the ranking of the best destinations for an inexpensive winter holiday, scoring 38 out of 50 points. From 2021, the Polish city remains a unique proposition for travelers throughout the winter season. The city has attractions such as Wawel Castle and the Polish Aviation Museum, which are very popular among tourists.

Krakow offers the cheapest car rental costs of all the cities surveyed, with an average fee of approximately PLN 500. Additionally, the average price of a flight from e.g. London Heathrow to Krakow airport is approximately PLN 680, and access to the city’s biggest attraction, the Main Square, is free.
