"Polish Tuscany" delights with views. This is where a new health resort will be built

The opening of the spa in Pińczów is fast approaching. This is good news for seniors interested in relaxing in “Polish Tuscany”.

You don’t have to fly to Italy to relax in the green and vast meadows of Tuscany. Equally beautiful natural landscapes can be found in Poland. The Nida River Valley in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is an exceptionally picturesque area that not everyone knows about. Now, thanks to the planned health resort in Pińczów, this place is to become famous throughout the country. Patient treatment here includes, among others: cardiological and rheumatological ailments.

A new health resort in Poland

Another town in Poland may soon become a health resort. Pińczowo in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is applying for such a title. The picturesque town located on the Ponidzie River, a region called “Polish Tuscany”, was positively assessed by the Minister of Health, as well as the public consultations conducted last month. “In this area, it will be possible to treat circulatory system diseases, cardiological diseases, orthopedic and traumatic diseases, rheumatological diseases, nervous system diseases and skin diseases,” says Włodzimierz Badurak, mayor of Pińczów. The spa area is to cover parts of the town of Pińczów with the Zdrojowe Housing Estate, as well as parts of the villages of Włochy, Pasturka, Bogucice Drugie and Grochowiska. The first medical facility in the commune is to be built in about 5 years, but the city is already inviting tourists. We can only hope that the construction will be carried out without the disruptions that have occurred in recent years in another health resort under construction.

“Polish Tuscany” in the Nida River valley

Ponidzie, like Tuscany, delights with green, lowland landscapes. Pińczów itself is located about 40 kilometers south of Kielce. The history of the town of 10,000 people dates back to the 12th century, when the first quarry was created in Pińczów. The area made of gypsum rocks contributed to Pińczów being later called the “white city”. Ponidzie is home to not only the largest gypsum deposits in Europe, but also many interesting monuments and attractions, such as the former Pauline Monastery, the Greater Poland Palace and the Świętokrzyska Narrow-Gauge Railway, which runs along the longest wooden trestles on the Old Continent.
