After terminating the contract with the Portuguese, Cezary Kulesza quickly started talking to candidates to replace the 68-year-old.

As the president of the Polish Football Association announced on Twitter, talks with candidates for the new coach have ended. So far, it is not officially known who was included in this group, but yesterday the media reported that Kulesza met with Marek Papszun, former coach of Raków Częstochowa. The architect of the club’s success from the Silesian Voivodeship is to be one of the favorites to take over after Santos.

The second strongest candidate is expected to be Michał Probierz. Kulesza knows him very well, as both men have worked together for years at Jagiellonia Białystok, where the former was the president and the latter the coach. Touchstone has been the coach of the Polish U21 national team since July last year.

Kulesza’s tweet reads: “Talks with candidates for coach have ended. “Time to choose” may make you think that at least two people are important in the fight for the seat. It was previously announced that an official decision would be made quickly. Łukasz Wachowski announced that the media and fans will learn the name by September 20.

Poland is fighting to advance to EURO 2024

The Polish national team has six points after five qualifying matches for the 2024 European Championships. This is due to home victories over Albania and the Faroe Islands. The White and Reds are four points behind the first of the mentioned teams (the leader of the table in Group E).
