Renovation of the A1 motorway. From October 30, there will be serious difficulties in the vicinity of Łódź

On October 30, road workers begin renovation works on the A1 motorway. Due to the painting of stripes, drivers traveling on the A1 motorway will face serious difficulties. We know the work schedule and the list of alternative routes.

From Monday, October 30, those traveling on the A1 motorway towards Gdańsk must expect difficulties. On the section between the Łódź Wschód and Łódź Północ junctions, road workers will be renewing the horizontal road markings. Renovation works will last at least two weeks.

The passability of the A1 will be maintained

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways informs that the first stage of works related to painting stripes will begin on a 14-kilometer section towards Gdańsk between the Łódź Wschód and Łódź Północ junctions. To maintain passability during the highway renovation, work will be carried out once on the right and once on the left side of the road.

There is a break in work on All Saints’ Day

The stripes on the A1 motorway will be painted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Work on the eastern road is scheduled until November 7, excluding October 31 and November 1. Road engineers point out that this deadline may be extended in the event of bad weather conditions.

Alternative northbound A1 diversions

To make it easier for drivers to travel during the renovations, GDDKiA proposes using alternative routes. Those driving on the A1 motorway from Wrocław towards Warsaw can choose one of two options. In the first case, at the Róża junction (S8/S14), they can exit onto the S14 expressway and, after reaching the Emilia junction, join the A2 motorway to continue their journey to the capital (or Gdańsk). The second alternative route requires access to the Łódź Południe junction (S8/A1) and exit to the A1 motorway towards Katowice. After reaching the Piotrków Trybunalski Zachód junction (A1/S8), drivers should exit onto the S8 expressway and from there go directly to Warsaw.

Travelers traveling on the A1 motorway from Katowice to Poznań can exit at the Łódź Południe junction onto the S8 expressway towards Wrocław, and then exit onto the S14 expressway at the Róża junction. After reaching the Emilia junction, they should take the exit onto the A2 motorway towards Poznań.

From November 6, renovation of the western road of the A1

After completing the works on the A1 motorway towards Gdańsk, road workers will move to the other side of the road, towards Katowice. The renovation will take place on the same section, between the Łódź Północ and Łódź Wschód junctions. The work should start on November 6 and be completed in the middle of the month. If in the meantime there is a change in the weather and rainfall occurs, the date will be changed.

Alternative southbound A1 diversions

For people traveling on the A1 motorway, between the Łódź Północ and Łódź Wschód junctions, towards the south, road workers have also prepared alternative routes. Those driving from Poznań (A2) towards Katowice (A1) can exit the A2 motorway at the Emilia junction onto the S14 expressway and reach the Róża junction. Then they should take the S8 road towards Warsaw, and after reaching the Łódź Południe junction, turn onto the A1 motorway.

In turn, those driving from Warsaw towards Silesia should choose the S8 expressway towards Warsaw – Piotrków Trybunalski and then the A1 motorway towards Katowice. An alternative may be to take the A2 motorway to the Emilia junction and take the S14 and S8 routes to the Łódź Północ junction. This alternative route will extend the journey from Warsaw to Katowice by approximately 50 kilometers.
