The General Command announced on Thursday the death of a soldier stabbed by one of the illegal migrants. – We demand that the Belarusian authorities establish the identity of this murderer and hand him over to the Polish authorities – said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

The minister informed that the Ministry of Justice is already conducting an investigation into this matter. – A protest note will be handed out. This is one of a long catalog of unfriendly acts of Belarus towards Poland, said Sikorski. He also stated that the tragic event was neither an accident nor “an individual decision of the bandits who attacked our soldier.”

– They are trained for this by the Belarusian side. This is not a coincidence, this is a result, the politician continued. He assured that the Polish side would ensure that the case was properly investigated. – I promise you that the Belarusian authorities will bear the consequences. It is completely unacceptable for a neighboring country to behave this way on the border, he announced.

Tragic attack on the Polish-Belarusian border

The tragic event occurred at the end of May near Dubicze Cerkiewne. A group of several dozen migrants tried to break through the barrier, attacking soldiers and border guards. One of the border guards, trying to block a breach in the steel barrier, was stabbed in the chest.

Despite the doctors' efforts, his life could not be saved. “We regret to inform you that on June 6 in the afternoon, a soldier of the 1st Armored Brigade died after being stabbed at the Military Medical Institute in Warsaw, surrounded by the support of his family and soldiers,” the General Command said in a statement.
