Szczerba criticized the councilors' decision. "The agreement with Gliński is to cement the job"

KO MP Michał Szczerba criticized the decision of the Otwock City Council to co-run the Institute of the Heritage of National Thought. “The agreement with Gliński is to cement the job for 10 years,” wrote Szczerba on X.

Institute of the Heritage of National Thought Roman Dmowski and Ignacy Paderewski is a state cultural institution that was established in 2020 by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Piotr Gliński.

KO wants to liquidate IDMN

As we read on the institute’s website, its activities focus on protecting, cultivating, researching and presenting national and Christian-democratic thought.

IDMN operates the Patriotic Fund, which financially supports cultural, educational and scientific projects, as well as investment and training projects. Both foundations, associations and other non-governmental organizations, as well as local government institutions can apply for funding.

The Civic Coalition announced that it intends to liquidate IDMN after forming a new government. The reason given was co-financing of organizations related to the former president of the Independence March Association, Robert Bąkiewicz.

Liquidation of IDMN is impossible without the consent of the Otwock authorities

On Wednesday, November 15, an extraordinary session of the Otwock City Council was held. The councilors adopted a resolution under which the city will co-run IDMN with the Ministry of Culture for the next 10 years.

In practice, this means that the liquidation of the institute announced by KO is currently impossible. Such a step would require the consent of not only the new Minister of Culture, but also the Otwock authorities.

Szczerba: They used PiS councilors

The decision of the Otwock City Council was criticized by KO MP Michał Szczerba. He pointed out that the resolution regarding IDMN was passed with the votes of Law and Justice councilors. 19 out of 21 councilors took part in the vote. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 10:9.

“PiS found a way to extend the operation of the pumping station. They used PiS councilors to agree to co-run the Dmowski Institute. The agreement with Gliński is to cement the position for 10 years. Make it more difficult to settle shameless subsidies for Bąkiewicz. They have gained time, but not impunity!” – Szczerba commented on X (formerly Twitter).
