In some cities the need for a second round of elections was a surprise, in others a certainty. In which provincial cities will residents vote again?

It was almost certain that the second round of elections would take place in Krakow, where Jacek Majchrowski said goodbye to the city hall after 22 years. There were also surprises – for example in Wrocław and Poznań. Here is the full list of provincial cities where the second round will take place:

Gorzów Wielkopolski – who will fight in the second round?

In Gorzów Wielkopolski, the first round was not enough, although it was very close. Jacek Wójcicki, the mayor of the city since 2014, who ran from his own committee, won 49.24 percent. votes.

In the second round, Wójcicki will face Piotr Wilczewski, who is running from the Civic Coalition list. The Gorzów councilor won 22.18 percent. votes.

Zielona Góra – who will fight in the second round?

Similarly to the other provincial capital in the Lubusz Voivodeship, a second round of elections is also needed in Zielona Góra. Marcin Pabierowski from the Civic Coalition, who won 42.74% in the first round, will compete in it. votes, and Janusz Kubicki, running from his own committee, who can boast of 35.95 percent. votes.

Toruń – who will fight in the second round?

Unlike Bydgoszcz – the second city in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship – overtime is needed in Toruń. The highest result in the first round was achieved by the current vice-president of the city, Paweł Gulewski. The politician running on behalf of the Civic Coalition won 38.28 percent. votes.

He will face Michał Zaleski, who ran in the elections from his own committee. He advanced to the second round with 26.41 percent. votes of residents.

Kraków – who will fight in the second round?

In the case of Krakow, the second round of local government elections was almost certain. After 22 years, President Jacek Majchrowski is leaving office, and the former capital is waiting for a new ruler.

The candidate who enters the second round from the winning position is Aleksander Miszalski, an MP from the Civic Coalition. The politician won 37.21 percent. votes.

His rival will be Łukasz Gibała. The entrepreneur was also associated with Donald Tusk's group years ago. He was elected to parliament twice, but during his second term he decided to change colors and join the Palikot Movement. In the first round of elections he won 26.79 percent. votes.

Rzeszów – who will fight in the second round?

The first round also did not bring a solution in Rzeszów. Although the highest result was in the capital of Podkarpacie – 37.91%. votes – won by the incumbent president Konrad Fijołek, he will have to defend his seat in the second round.

Fijołek will face Waldemar Szumny. The Law and Justice candidate won 24.23% in the first round. votes.

Poznań – who will fight in the second round?

Poznań brought an unexpected second round of elections. The currently ruling president, Jacek Jaśkowiak from the Civic Coalition, obtained 43.74 percent. votes. In the second round, he will face the candidate of Law and Justice, Zbigniew Czerwiński, who obtained 20.3 percent. votes.

Wrocław – who will fight in the second round?

The first round of local government elections in Wrocław brought an equally unexpected result. Just a few weeks ago, the incumbent president, Jacek Sutryk, was almost certain of winning, now he has to defend his seat.

Sutryk won 34.33% in the first round. votes. In the second round, he will face Izabela Bodnar, a member of the Third Way, who received 29.8 percent. votes.

Kielce – who will fight in the second round?

In Kielce, two presidential debutants advanced to the second round of local elections. The highest result in the first round – 33.63%. votes – received by Agata Wojda, candidate of the Civic Coalition. In the “overtime” he will face the candidate of Law and Justice, Marcin Stępniewski, who obtained 25.05 percent. votes.

When is the second round of local elections?

If the election for president or mayor of the city is not resolved in the first round, a second round must be organized. It will take place in two weeks – on Sunday, April 21.
