The former president lectures in the USA. “If you don’t listen to old Wałęsa, we will destroy civilization”
Lech Wałęsa in the USA said, among other things, that fate “has given his generation two great tasks.” The former president argued that “we have Russia and China in our grasp and if we do not take advantage of this situation, our grandchildren will not forgive us.”
Lech Wałęsa is visiting the USA. The former president appeared at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, where he delivered a speech on the need for further support for Ukraine from the United States. Wałęsa said, among other things, that fate had given his generation two great tasks. The first thing he mentioned was “breaking down the old, bad world order to build something new.”
The leader of Solidarity emphasized that it was not entirely successful, because only Russia and China remained. As he noted, it was not possible then, unlike today. – The whole world has rallied against Russia, so we have a great chance to finally put order in this world. In this ordering, fate has given the leadership to the United States and it cannot go back. If we don’t take advantage of this situation, our grandchildren will not forgive us. We have both Russia and China in our grasp, Wałęsa assured.

The former president complained indirectly, among other things: that Poles had previously allowed PiS to rule. He warned the US against electing Donald Trump as president. – Since there are no solutions, politicians and demagogues are starting to speak out. We made a bad choice once and I see something wrong with you too. Discuss quickly so that you don’t make the same mistake as the Poles. The United States should have solutions in global affairs, just like Germany, France and Italy in continental Europe, he said.
– If you don’t listen to old Wałęsa, we will destroy the civilization we live in. In my concept, we were to join NATO and the EU together – Ukraine, Belarus, Poland. I left this movement for the second presidential term and lost the term. Poland managed to escape to the EU and NATO, but Ukraine stayed. And therefore, if Poland had not escaped, Poland would be at war with Russia today. So we feel we are responsible for some of this, Wałęsa said.
