PiS MP Anita Czerwińska may lose her parliamentary immunity. Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar wrote to the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, on this matter. What is it about?

The PiS MP reported via social media that Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar requested to waive her immunity. Anita Czerwińska writes that the reason for this decision is “the removal of the false and slanderous inscription in front of the monument to the victims of the Smolensk disaster.” “The date of the application is significant – April 10, on the 14th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy,” says the MP.

She also attached a letter which shows that Bodnar referred to the Act on the exercise of the mandate of a Member of Parliament and Senator and forwarded the request of the Chief Commander of Police of March 25, 2024 for consent to hold Anita Czerwińska liable under Art. 124 of the Petty Offenses Code.

It states that “whoever intentionally destroys, damages or renders unfit for use another person's property, if the damage does not exceed PLN 800, shall be subject to the penalty of arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine.” “There are no words to describe these…” commented Jan Kanthak from Sovereign Poland.

The application concerns the events from the beginning of the year, when Czerwińska tore off a plaque from one of the wreaths. An incident occurred a few months later. Counter-demonstrators appeared near the Smolensk monument. One of them, Zbigniew Komosa, held a wreath in his hand with the inscription “In memory of the 95 victims of Lech Kaczyński, who, ignoring all procedures, ordered the pilots to land in Smolensk in extremely difficult conditions. Rest in peace. “The Polish Nation”.

His path was blocked by Marek Suski and Anita Czerwińska. – Shame and disgrace. You are promoting Vladimir Putin's version! – the PiS MP shouted. In response, the man began to wave the Supreme Court's ruling, which – in his opinion – allows him to place a wreath.
