The Polish footballer has found a new club. A surprising transfer

Many Polish footballers go abroad and do not find themselves in the new reality. It was similar with Michał Karbownik, who after the transfer to the Premier League found himself only in Fortuna Duesseldorf. The former Legia Warszawa player has found a new club.

Unfortunately, the transfer of Michał Karbownik to Brighton was not a good move. Unlike Jakub Moder, the former Legia Warszawa footballer bounced back from the first team and has been on loan since 2021 – first at Olympiakos and then at Fortuna Duesseldorf. It was only at the latter club that he began to show his good side. He made 26 league appearances, scoring one goal and registering five assists.

Unfortunately, it was not enough for the representatives of the Premier League club who decided to sell him. Karbownik will remain at the level of the second Bundesliga and will now represent the colors of Hertha Berlin, which was criticized last season and fell with a bang from the league.

“Michał can be used flexibly and not only has he proven his qualities on both sides in defence, he has also been impressive in midfield. He knows the league, he also played for the Polish national team,” commented sports director Benjamin Weber in the club media.

Michał Karbownik: This decision was easy for me

The former Legia Warszawa footballer has signed a contract until 2025 and will wear the number 6 shirt on the back. The transfer to the inheritance from the Bundesliga was also commented on by the interested person himself.

– Hertha BSC tried very hard to win me from the beginning of the talks. So the decision to make this change was easy for me. I want to help the team as soon as possible and develop here both in terms of sports and personal – says Michał Karbownik.

Karbownik was born on March 13, 2001 and is a student of Legia Warszawa. In August 2019, he made his Ekstraklasa debut as an 18-year-old and played a total of 36 league and seven cup matches. In October 2020, Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion signed a player who made his senior debut in the same month, where he has now made four caps. He was then loaned to Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece and to Fortuna Duesseldorf.
