The Polish footballer is dead. He went down in the history of one club

Fans and activists in Rzeszów are mourning the death of Jerzy Daniło. All because, first as a player and later as a coach, he had a significant impact on the fate of the club that currently plays in the first league.

Jerzy Daniło co-authored the historic promotion

“Jerzy Daniłó He was a graduate of Stal Sanok, from which he came to Resovia. He defended the colors of our Club until the end of the 1970s, playing as a midfielder. He was a co-author of Resovia's historic promotion to the second league in 1977,” we read on Resovia Rzeszów's Facebook page, which greatly appreciates his contribution to the promotion to the second league.

Daniło ultimately defended the colors of the team from Rzeszów for nine years (1971-1980). Later he decided to leave Poland and emigrated to Chicago. After three years of playing for the local Croatian Chicago, he decided to return to his homeland. Then came a new chapter in his life as he pursued a coaching career.

In the first half of the 1980s, he was a coach at Resovia in youth and junior groups. Then he had a long break from training in Rzeszów, and then in the 2002/03 season, in the 4th Podkarpackie league, he took over as the coach of Resovia, entering the 3rd league.

“CWKS Resovia Rzeszów SA would like to express its sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased,” we read at the end of the message.

Sad news for Resovia before an important match

Currently, Resovia is in the relegation zone of Fortuna 1. Liga and the news about the death of such an important figure for the club must be overwhelming before the fight for relegation. Currently, the team from Podkarpacie is in 16th place in the table, one point behind Polonia Warszawa, which is in the last position guaranteeing continued play at this level of the competition. In the last round, Resovia will play against Wisła Płock. The match will take place on May 26.
