The Polish national volleyball team increased its popularity thanks to the 2023 season. Stefano Lavarini's players won the bronze medal in the Nations League, which was the first podium in a world-class event in 55 years. A few months after the success in Airlington, the Polish women secured Olympic qualification in front of their home audience. As a result, after 16 years, we will see both volleyball teams again at the quadrennial tournament.

This Olympics will undoubtedly be the target event for the White and Reds. However, the League of Nations will also be of great importance. First of all, it is always worth playing for medals. Secondly, although Poland is no longer fighting for promotion through the FIVB ranking, its position in the ranking will be important in the draw of the groups of the Olympic tournament.

The first of three 2024 Nations League tournaments is the stage in Antalya. The Polish women flew to Turkey on Saturday. Previously, they played two sparring matches against the Dutch. The first one ended with a 5-0 triumph for the Polish women, and the second one with a 2-3 defeat. Both selectors agreed on a five-set match regardless of the result.

In Turkey, the Polish women will play four matches – against the Italians, French, Dutch and Japanese. The first rival will be Italy, against which Stefano Lavarini's team won last year in the Olympic qualifications. The players of Julio Velasco, who took over the team after Davide Mazzanti, want to get revenge, especially since they have to fight for points in the ranking. They finished the competition in Łódź behind both Poland and the USA.
