The result of Iga Świątek's match caused a storm and unpleasant memories. A sensational confession from a tennis player

Iga Świątek defeated Anastazja Potapova in the fourth round of Roland Garros. This sparked a lot of discussion online. She spoke, among others: Andreea Prisacariu, who also had a painful defeat against the Pole.

It was a walk by Iga Świątek. The world ranking leader defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. The match lasted only 40 minutes, and the Russian scored 10 points. It's almost unbelievable what a difference in levels we had in the competition for the top eight at the Paris event. The pogrom performed by the Polish representative caused a lot of comments on the Internet.

Andreea Prisacariu with a sensational confession

After the fight between Świątek and Potapova, Nick Kyrgios reacted to the result. The famous Australian tennis player used emoticons to ridicule what was happening in Paris. Under his post on the X platform, fans and journalists asked about a broader point of view, but the Australian was not willing to answer.

It became much more serious when Andreea Prisacariu spoke. In the 2022 season, the Romanian played with Świątek as part of the Poland-Romania match in the Billie Jean King Cup. Then our player triumphed 6-0, 6-0, and her opponent was criticized, which she decided to talk about.

“Interesting fact: When my country killed me, when I lost to Iga 6-0, 6-0, no one stood behind me, everyone said I was a loser and so on. And yet somehow I'm not the only one who has this result against her. This is kind of her specialty,” she wrote on the X platform.

Prisacariu suggested that tennis players cannot be judged only on the basis of a terrible result. She also described what her situation was like before competing with Świątek.

– At that time I was in the fourth hundred of the rankings. All I wanted was to give it 100%, which I did. I wasn't even supposed to go on the court at the time, but I did it anyway. So yes, losing to Iga Świątek to zero is honestly not that tragic – she added.

Świątek has a chance for another great success

After clearly dominating the match against Potapova, Iga Świątek will play against Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. So far, both women have faced each other three times and the Polish woman was better in each fight. Their next clash will take place on Tuesday, June 4 around 12:30.
