They won the match after a two-year break! An amazing story in PlusLiga
Enea Czarni Radom volleyball players achieved what until recently seemed impossible. The last team in PlusLiga won the match as the host for the first time in over two years of break. The Radom team defeated Barkom Kazany Lwów 3-1.
We recently informed that after over 300 days, the volleyball players of Enea Czarni Radom won the league match in PlusLiga. The “Red Lantern” of the table defeated Exact Systems Hemarpol Częstochowa after a tie-break. However, the Radom team won at Jasna Góra, but they were still waiting for success on their own soil.
Enea Czarni Radom won on home soil
Radomians waited 305 days to win the league, as calculated by Jakub Balcerzak, a well-known volleyball newsman on social media. The last victory before a happy trip to Częstochowa? Last season. What’s more, the Radom team won the first set in the current campaign only on October 25.
What’s worse, from Radom’s perspective, since December 2021, i.e. since the team plays in the new facility, i.e. the Radom Sports Center, Enea Czarni (formerly Cerrad) have not been able to win as the host. And this disastrous streak was broken on Tuesday (January 2), late afternoon. The Radom team defeated Barkom Każany Lwów in four sets, making their loyal fans happy. The hosts in Radom had been waiting exactly 752 days to win.
It’s not the first time that Nikola Meljanac should be singled out. The Serbian attacker was the solution to the offensive problems for the hosts. The Serb was also recognized as the MVP of the match. After winning, Meljanac ran to the most loyal fans in the stands, wildly celebrating the success with the fans. Let us add that Maciej Nowowsiak, the libero of Enea Czarnich, also did a great job defensively. Rafał Buszek, the experienced world champion from 2014, also finished important balls.
An interesting fight to stay in the PlusLiga
The victory of the team recently led by coach Waldo Kantor is a strong signal towards the fight to avoid relegation in Radom. Looking at the league table, apart from the team headed by Paweł Zagumny, there will probably be hot spots in the ranks of KGHM Cuprum Lubin and GKS Katowice.
The entire rematch round remains until the end of the main phase. It is therefore expected that Enea Czarni, thanks to such a victory, will gain some momentum to avoid relegation to Tauron 1. Liga.
