Train tickets up to 40 percent more expensive. We will pay more in this province

Passengers travelling on Polregio trains have drawn attention to higher ticket prices. The increase was introduced in only one Polish province.

Rail carrier Polregio unexpectedly raised prices for travel in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. According to passenger reports, in some cases the new price differs from the previous one by as much as 40 percent. The company explains that the changes result from the need to adjust rates to the current market situation. The problem is not only inflation, but also the rising costs of running a transport business.

Ticket price increase at Polregio

Passengers who travelled by Polregio trains in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in June may have been surprised by the new ticket prices. Rides on the carrier’s routes are noticeably more expensive, and in some cases the current price is almost half as high as the previous one. The unexpected changes were reported by the industry portal Rynek-kolejowy.pl. “This is a very high increase, because for example on the Koszalin – Kołobrzeg route the price of a single ticket has increased by 40 percent, from PLN 10 to PLN 14,” one of the website’s readers reported. Other connections have also become more expensive. A ride from Nowogród to Gryfice will cost PLN 3 more, and from Szczecin to Trzebiatów PLN 30, instead of the previous PLN 22. “No increases were introduced on the Koszalin – Sławno and Szczecin – Nowogard routes,” we read.

Polregio explains

“This change was caused by the adjustment of the applied promotional rates for travel to the current market situation, taking into account inflation and the increase in costs from the conducted transport activity,” the Polregio press office reported. The changes are regional in nature and apply only to the area of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. This is not the only increase that has hit Polish railway customers in recent months. At the end of May, PKP Intercity withdrew from promotional tickets on popular connections.
