What's next for CPK? Residents want the work to be stopped

The “Protection and Development” Association, which brings together residents of the Baranów, Teresin and Wiskitki communes, sent a letter to the Ministry of Infrastructure after the elections, demanding an immediate cessation of work on the construction of the Central Communication Port.

After the elections, as a result of which the government will most likely be formed by the previously opposition parties, the future of the Central Communication Port is in doubt. Residents of the communes where the CPK is to be built sent a letter to the Ministry of Infrastructure and to Marcin Horała, the government’s plenipotentiary for the CPK, demanding that the work be stopped.

What’s next for CPK?

“In the face of the new reality and parliamentary elections to the Sejm and Senate, the ‘Protection and Development’ Association requests an immediate suspension of all demolition works on residential and farm buildings, as well as religious buildings – chapels and crosses – until a new government is elected. We also request the suspension of works related to the planned construction of the High-Speed Railway and the Warsaw Bypass Agglomeration. We consider continuing the above-mentioned work to be to the detriment of the CPK Commercial Law Company,” we read in the letter shared by the RMF24 portal.

According to Wirtualna Polska, CPK has no intention of stopping work. As we read in the statement, its task “is not to speculate or create alternative scenarios. On the contrary, as an investor, we are focused on completing the task for which we were appointed, which is to design and build new infrastructure.”

“The company’s activities, and consequently the adopted schedules, stages and obligations, are included in a number of official documents, strategies and arrangements. We are not pulling the handbrake, and numerous design works, works and field tests, as well as property purchases are continuing according to the schedule and signed contracts,” writes the press office, answering WP’s questions.

Coalition ideas

During a recent meeting in Piotrków Trybunalski, the leader of the Polish People’s Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, assessed that “tens, perhaps even hundreds of billions of zlotys” allocated for the CPK could be used in a better way. The leader of the People’s Party said that if Third Road wins the elections, it will abandon the construction of the airport in Baranów.

The second leader of the Third Way, Szymon Hołownia, stated that the CPK is currently run “with one finger on the map”. As a result, the tracks leading to the future airport are to be run, among others, through farms where families have lived for many generations, but also through fields and houses. and even churches.

– There has not been an investment in Poland in the last 30 years that would have caused so many social tears. Here you can see how many tears have been shed and we will certainly not allow them to continue shedding, said the head of the Left club, Krzysztof Gawkowski.

Politicians of the Civic Coalition have been criticizing the construction of the CPK for months. During the September convention “100 specifics for 100 days”, the largest opposition party presented a somewhat enigmatic position on this matter. – We will verify the design of the Central Communication Port. We will stop bandit expropriations and right the wrongs of those who have already been expropriated. We will block the sale of Okęcie airport – we read in the KO program.
